A proposal for constructing five new very high pressure sub-centres for strengthening the power distribution network and to have regular and quality power supply in Pune city and surrounding areas will be sent to the head offices of Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited(MSEDCL) and Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company Limited(MSETCL).
This decision was taken at the meeting held of both the power companies. Sanjay Taksande, regional director, MSEDCL, MG SHinde, chief engineer, MSEDCL and Rohidas Mhaske, chief engineer, MSETCL were present at the meeting.
Discussions were held at the meeting about the pressure on the power machinery in Pune city and rural areas along with the industrial areas and power supply conditions. The demand for power will increase due to the under construction residential and commercial complexes and growing industrialization in areas near Pune city. Work on meeting this demand has begun through the various schemes of MSEDCL and state and union governments.
MSEDCL has stated that there is a need for construction of very high tension sub-centres at Khed City, CTC(Rasta Peth), Bhugaon, Marunji and Eon Kharadi considering the power demand in the next few years. MSETCL has informed that the proposal for all these five centres will be sent to the head office.
Discussions were held on having necessary technical co-ordination between the two power companies for providing regular power supply to the power consumers in all categories through their existing power machinery. Decisions were also taken to undertake technical measures in some centres of MSETCL to reduce the tension on the power machinery of MSEDCL.
As a result, the pressure on the overloaded lines in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad cities along with rural areas will reduce. The industries in industrial estates of Chakan and Talegaon will also be befitted by receiving quality power supply.
